Mets Have Five On It

The Braves may have the everlasting Dave Orr on their side, and now, possibly Reggie Jackson, but they weren't enough to keep the Mets from crusiing to a 5th straight win. Orr slapped added another 3 hits to his collection with his 2nd homerun as part of the collection as well as two more RBIs. Reggie even added his 2nd in homer in five games. The Braves put up a respectable 14 hits on Sandy Koufax. All good stuff. The bad stuff was on the mound for the Braves. Pud Galvin took it up his keister and was chased out of the park in the 3rd inning. The Mets got to him for 9 hits and 6 runs. Sain got the same treatment from the Mets; 7 hits and 3 runs. Dixie Walker unleashed the beast with five hits that included a double and 3-RBIs. Roger Bresnahan racked up 4 hits with a triple and 2-RBIs. The fun didn't stop there. Mickey Cochrane was 2 for 2 with a homer and 2 RBI.

The ice has finally broken for the Cardinals in Season 32 with their first win, a 5-1 victory at home over the Pirates. All it took was Orlando Cepeda and his big bat. Cepeda knocked the hide off the ball twice to get three of the five runs scored for STL. The manager breathed a sigh of relief to see Noodles Hahn recover from the horrible start against the Mets. Pitching nine innings, Hahn struck oout seven while allowing five hits, one run and two walks. Pittsburgh continues to search for the consistency.

It was Dutch Leonard's game in Kansas City. Setting the tone for the game with a 4-hit shoutout in KC. This gave the Cubs the opportunity to get the bats working. Al Rosen and Vern Stephens bopped a homer each, the first of many to come from these two.
